A work does not come into the world all at once.
Sometimes it knows from the beginning what it wants to become; sometimes it reveals its form slowly. Taking Shape offers a glimpse into works as they make their way into the world.

Das Spiel
Das Spiel begins with the familiar language of Snakes and Ladders: a path, players, chance, movement, a goal.
Yet as the game unfolds, something begins to shift. Seemingly familiar rules no longer produce familiar experiences. Movement and progress become uncertain.
The work translates aspects of my experience with ME/CFS into the logic of a game, allowing others to experience some of its conditions through play.
Its final form is still taking shape.A board game? A walk-in installation? Or both?
